Introduction

About Me

I have always been a reader.  My mother was a teacher and instilled her love of reading in me at an early age. I was as likely to receive a book for my birthday or Christmas as I was to receive a toy. I was the student who was buying 5, 6, 7 or more books off the book order forms each month.  My reading list included children’s books, sports books, and non-fiction titles. That love of reading continued into my adult years.

I am now a retired elementary school teacher who still loves to read.  During my 33-year career, I’ve read 100’s of children’s books, always looking for that next amazing read-aloud, recommendation, or addition to my classroom or school library. I took great pleasure in reading classic books with my students and also introducing them to new books.  Many sought me out for personal recommendations, and I donated quite a few books to the school library with a "read and recommended" sticker on the inside.

I knew that one of the things I would miss after retiring was sharing great books with students, so I decided to create this website as my retirement passion project.
