Recommendation:

As a teacher, one of my favorite books to read aloud at the beginning of the year was Sideways Stories from Wayside School. This book is a similar type of tale, with a fractured fairy tale bent. Silly, nonsensical, crazy characters and laugh out loud moments keep the reader entertained. This would be a good book for a reluctant or struggling reader, or a class read aloud when the objective is to purely entertainment. It’s also written in the style of the Geronimo Stilton stories with certain words highlighted and cartoonish illustrations. This is the first book in a series of six.
